Understanding Your 25 Free Calls

Created by Brandi Weyant-Ceron, Modified on Thu, Jun 25 at 9:08 AM by Brandi Weyant-Ceron

Your Free Plan includes 25 answered calls every month — but not all calls are the same. This article breaks down exactly what counts toward your limit, what doesn't, and how to keep tabs on where you stand.

The three call types

Your Free Plan includes three separate call allowances. They're completely independent — using up one doesn't affect the others.

What it is

Real calls

25/month

Actual inbound calls from your clients and prospects

Test calls

25/month

Calls you make from your browser to your AI number to hear it live

Simulated calls

50/month

What counts as a real call

A real call is any inbound call answered by your AI Receptionist from an actual caller — a new prospect, an existing client, anyone calling your published number.

These count toward your 25:

  • A prospective client calling to ask about your services

  • An existing client calling to check on their matter

  • Calls from courts, clerks, or opposing counsel regarding scheduling or case updates

These do NOT count toward your 25:

  • Spam or blocked callers screened by your AI

  • Test calls you make from your browser in Quality Studio

  • Simulated calls run inside Quality Studio

  • Calls that don't connect (e.g. the caller hangs up before your AI answers)

How to check your usage

Your dashboard shows a real-time counter so you always know where you stand:

"7 of 25 calls used this month"

You'll see a warning state appear around 20 of 25 calls used — giving you time to add credits and enable Extra Calls before you hit your limit.

Your counter resets to zero at the start of every billing cycle. Unused calls don't roll over.

⚡ Getting close to your limit? Add billing credits and turn on Extra Calls so your AI Receptionist keeps answering beyond 25 — at $3/call, with no plan change needed.

Test calls and simulated calls: separate limits, different rules

Your 25 test calls and 50 simulated calls are for use inside Quality Studio — your built-in workspace for testing and refining your AI Receptionist.

A few important differences from real calls:

  • They reset monthly, just like real calls

  • There's no pay-per-extra option — once you've used your monthly allowance, that call type is paused until your next billing cycle

  • Results stay available — all your past Quality Studio scores and recommendations remain fully accessible even after you've hit your limit

⚡ Running a lot of tests? If you're actively refining your AI Receptionist, 25 test calls and 50 simulated calls can go faster than expected. Pro plans include higher allowances for both.

Frequently asked questions

Do spam or blocked calls count against my 25? No. Spam and blocked callers are screened by your AI without counting toward your monthly real call allowance.

What happens if I hit my limit? If Extra Calls is off (the default), the next caller routes based on your redirect settings. Add billing credits and toggle on Extra Calls to keep calls flowing. Do that here →

Do test calls count against my 25 real calls? No — test calls and real calls are completely separate allowances.

Can I roll over unused calls to next month? No. All three call types reset to zero at the start of each billing cycle.

Can I buy more test or simulated calls mid-month? Not on the Free Plan. When you reach your test or simulated call limit, those are paused until your billing cycle resets. Upgrading to a Pro plan gives you a higher monthly allowance.
