How to Connect Your Clio Manage Account to Smith.ai Voice Assistant

Clio Manage is a flagship tool within Clio, widely recognized as a leading choice for legal practice management software. With Clio Manage, you can streamline case management, track billable hours, and handle billing and payments with ease. This integration allows the Smith.ai Voice Assistant to log call details, update client records, and create follow-ups directly in your Clio Manage account, keeping your practice organized and efficient after every call.

How the integration works


Connect Smith.ai to Clio Manage and have all your conversation logged in your Clio Manage account as communication logs.


If the caller isn't yet a client in your Clio account, we'll add them as a new client and log the call under communication.



Calls are added as communications to open matters (as long as the client only has one matter). If there are multiple matters associated with one client, the integration will send the information to the first one allowed.



Call details in the communications log include:

  • Call summary
  • Contact information (name, email, phone number)
  • Call duration/length as a time entry
  • Call recording and transcript link (if enabled on your account)



How to enable the Clio Manage integration with the Smith.ai Voice Assistant


To set up this integration, email us at support@smith.ai, and we’ll send you the authorization link to associate your Smith.ai and Clio accounts.


Once you click on the link, you’ll be asked to login to your Clio Manage Account.



You will then see a screen like this. Just click “allow access” to finish the setup.



If you also use Clio Grow


Please click here if you would like to enable the Clio Grow integration as well!


Once you have enabled both integrations, we can segment your callers by type, sending some to Grow and others to Manage. 


Email us your preferences to support@smith.ai to let us know which caller types to send to which system, for example:

  • Existing client - Clio Manage
  • New lead - Clio Grow
  • Other- Clio Grow


Note: If you don’t let us know how to route specific types of callers, all callers will go into Clio Manage by default.
