Routing Call Summaries to Slack

Smith.ai call summaries can be routed to a Slack channel. For example, you could have a channel called #messages, and receive all your Smith.ai call summaries like this:

How to set this up:

  1. If you're not a Slack admin for your team, send this page to them. You need to have administrative privileges to proceed.
  2. Go to your Slack team's "apps" page. The URL will look like this: https://yourslackteamname.slack.com/apps/manage
  3. Search for "email" and enable it. The Email integration is only available to Slack workspaces on paid plans. You'll see a screen like this:

  4. Click "Configuration"
  5. If you haven't made a channel in which you want to receive your Smith.ai call summaries, do that now by clicking "create a new channel."

  6. Select the channel you want from the dropdown menu and press the "Add Email Integration" button.
  7. The resulting page gives you an email address. They will mail this to your site admin as well, but copy it down for convenience as we'll use it later.
  8. Fill out and confirm all the details on this page. You can add an icon for the incoming messages. Here's ours if you'd like to use it: Smith.ai Avatar. When you are done, your settings should look something like this:

  9. Test the integration by emailing something to that new address. You must be a member of that new channel to see the message, though. Usually, it takes about a minute for it to show up.
  10. Go to your Smith.ai dashboard.
  11. Click on the settings icon.
  12. Click "Update notifications settings," and a new popup modal will appear for you to change or add the Slack email provided in step 7. Add the Slack email to the "Instant call summary destinations" section to receive an alert for every call the Voice Assistant receives.

  13. Click Save
  14. That's it! We will confirm when this is set up for you. It should usually be within the same business day. You'll see your call summaries come into the channel and they'll look something like this:
