The instructions section of the Smith.ai dashboard is where you can set up and configure different caller types. Our Voice Assistant uses this information to appropriately handle and direct your calls, addressing separate types of callers according to your needs.

Caller Types

There are four different types of callers that you can configure:

  1. Potential new clients/customers: a new caller who hasn't worked with you or your business before
  2. Existing clients/customers: a caller who is a known client or customer
  3. Sales: A caller who is selling you or your business a product or service
  4. All other callers: Any other type of caller that might contact you or your business

You can configure call settings differently for each caller type, including:

  • Contact information collected
  • Location- and service-based qualifications (for potential new clients/customers only)
  • Custom data collected
  • Call action to be taken

To configure caller types, click “Configure next to the caller type you want to configure.

A modal will pop up, displaying the details for each caller type. To learn more, visit the help doc for Customizing Caller Types.
