How to Enable Scheduling with AI Receptionist +Live Agents

Created by Jessica Paxton, Modified on Tue, Jun 2 at 11:46 AM by Dave Rocha

You're here because your AI Receptionist qualifies your callers — and you want a live agent to close the loop by booking the appointment.

Smith.ai's Live Agent Network is a team of live virtual receptionists, available 24/7 across the United States. When your AI Receptionist finishes qualifying a caller, a live agent steps in seamlessly to book directly onto your calendar or booking form — no integration required.

You can configure scheduling for each caller type separately, allowing you to tailor the experience to your callers' needs and your business's. For example, your AI Receptionist can use one link to book 15-minute new client phone consultations and another to book 30-minute, on-site meetings for existing clients.

Cost: Live agent scheduling is billed at $3 per call.

Written Instructions

Important: Your booking page link must be publicly accessible. If calendar visibility is restricted, appointments will not be scheduled successfully.
  1. Log in to your AI Receptionist dashboard and navigate to the Instructions tab
  2. Find the caller type you want to enable scheduling for (e.g., new clients, existing clients, etc.) and click Configure to edit the playbook
  3. Scroll down to the section labeled What should we do next? and select Schedule an appointment
  4. Select Other public calendar from the list of options within the How should we schedule? dropdown menu
  5. Input the link to your calendar or booking form in the Booking page link field
  6. Input a name for this calendar in the What should we call this calendar? field (e.g., "New Client Consultation" or "Existing Client 1-on-1")
  7. Click Save. Changes will take effect immediately.

Repeat steps 1-7 as needed to enable scheduling for other caller types.
